Bio

Phill comes from an international professional Lifeguard and Fire Fighting career. During his professional career, Phill has been involved in many rescues and recoveries.  He understands the importance of bringing efficiency and intelligence to difficult drowning scenes. Phill’s goal is to have AquaEye in the hands of as many water-based emergency response teams as possible. 
Phill is an avid surfer and has travelled the world surfing. You will find Phill spending most of his spare time on the beach enjoying the ocean and participating in different water sports.

Bio

Joshua Gibbs volunteers as the Captain of Daphne Search and Rescue and is a Sergeant with Mobile Police Department in Coastal Alabama. He is a Public Safety Diving trainer for both agencies, where he instructs divers in search, recovery and underwater investigations. He is a trained Cave Recovery and Technical Diver in addition to being a Certified Alabama Peace Officer Standards and Training Instructor, Surface Water Rescue Instructor, Dive Med Specialist, and Emergency Medical Technician. He has lectured on the use of sonar and specialized search theory at Public Safety Diving Conferences, Coroner Conferences, Rescue Conferences and various other training events.

Bio

Gerry is a professional Aquatics Safety and Water Rescue Consultant for Lifesaving Resources (www.lifesaving.com) in Kennebunkport, Maine (USA).  Gerry has written and published over 40 articles and several instructional guidebooks in the area of Water Rescue, Ice Rescue, and EMS.  He has been a Firefighter and EMT for over 50 years and is currently an interior Firefighter with the Kennebunkport Fire Department and an EMT with the Kennebunkport EMS.  Gerry has conducted training throughout the U.S., as well as Internationally.  He regularly consults as a Forensics Expert in drowning and aquatic injury litigation with over 500 cases to date.  And, he has appeared as a subject matter expert for ABC’s Good Morning America; CBS’ Early Show; NBC’s Today Show; MSNBC News; CNN; The Weather Channel; The History Channel; and The Discovery Channel.

Bio

Gerry has been on the front lines volunteering as a Recovery Diver for over 30 years.  Growing up around water he became a certified SCUBA diver in 1977 and joined Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit in 1992.  Volunteering has been an integral part of his life where he has raised money for GSURU and those in need.  Over the years he has made it a priority to increase the technical capability for water searches and in 2020 he started coordinating with VodaSafe to improve the AquaEye and increase its’ visibility.  In his spare time, he likes to travel and enjoy the New Jersey shore.

Bio

Michael Smith, 46, is a former firefighter for city and county fire departments. He has been a diver for 16 years. He currently works with Wings of Hope Search and Rescue of Wisconsin where he has been involved in a little over 500 cases to date, as a rescue and recovery diver. Mike travels the continent and uses AquaEye and other tools to provide closure to families of missing loved ones. 

In his downtime, he enjoys diving recreationally and spending time with this 3 children and wife. 

Buck Buchanan

Bio

Buck Buchanan is a senior ERDI Instructor Trainer with over 25 years Public Safety Diving Experience. Buck’s the owner operator of Dive911. He has recorded over 6000 safe dives and over 80 personal recoveries. Buck is a multi-agency and an instructor trainer for most under water disciplines including technical diving instructor trainer, combat diver and tactical swimmer trainer. Buck has played a unique part in bringing the practice of public safety diving into the 21st century. Through innovative programs and concept-based training and is the coauthor of the new PS Diver Survival workshop and the PSD Diver ASE workshop. (Automobile subsurface extrication) Buck has participated in high profile cases from homicides to natural disasters and has been a technical advisor for dive operations around the globe. Bucks endless curiosity for innovation and technology in rescue and recovery stumbled upon AquaEye. Buck performed one of the first successful recoveries (recounted in PSD diver magazine) with AquaEye, he was given an AquaEye to test and while doing so was called for the recovery. Buck quickly became a Brand Ambassador.
